European Birth Mother Network - FASD Attends First European Conference on FASD
 
Eurobmsn recently attended the First European Conference on FASD held November 3-5 in Kerkrade, Netherlands. Diane Black served as conference chair and NIAAA, Eurocare, Tactus, NOFAS-UK, John Lentis and the World Health Organization (WHO) co-sponsored the event. Prior to the conference, WHO held a two-day meeting with researchers to discuss how to move forward with obtaining accurate global prevalence rates.
 
Eurobmsn member Philippa Williams spoke at the conference. She was joined by Rob Wybrecht of Michigan , Eileen Calder an adopted mother from Scotland and Kathy Mitchell Vice president of NOFAS and founder of Circle of Hope Birth Mother's Network in USA in the plenary family panel
 
 
4th International Conference on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder: The Power of Knowledge: Integrating Research, Policy, and Promising Practice Around the World was held on March 2 – 5, 2011 at The Westin Bayshore in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
 
Eurobmsn founder Philippa Williams joined Bernadtte Fuhrman ,Linda Mitchell  (Canada),Elizabeth Russell , Lorian Hayes (Au)  and Kathy Mitchelll (USA) to speak on the international birth mother panel. It was very powerful and the conference was amazing , wonderful to meet new people and catch up with friends. 2nd European FASD Conference to be held on 21rd -24th October 2012 in Barcelona , Spain. 
 
Wonderful conference , weather was lovely and hot and great meeting up with everyone. Eurobmsn founder Philippa Williams presented on how the European Birth Mother Network is growing in numbers in the UK and birth mothers being advocates in their own areas . Also presenting was birth mother Kathleen Mitchell from the USA , always learn so much from her and making her debut talk Debby Kroon from the Netherlands had everyone in tears with her story, very powerful.
Philippa Williams was voted in as European Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Alliance newest board member

First International Conference on Prevention of FASD
Preventing harm from alcohol use during pregnancy
September 23 - 25, 2013 
Shaw Conference Centre , Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
 
This is the first international conference to address the primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of FASD.
